Frequently Asked Questions - Kayak Rentals

Renting a kayak on Oneida Lake is an easy process. You need to be 18, sign a rental agreement, and provide identification. Parents and legal guardians can rent a kayak for those under 18 by booking online and filling out the rental agreement. If you are booking on behalf of a minor child, please provide the child's name in the booking notes to speed up the check-in process.

We always strongly recommend making reservations in advance by booking online. That said, most kayak rentals are of a one-hour duration and we are generally able to find you a rental kayak in a reasonable amount of time.

Renting a kayak is a great way to explore Oneida Lake while getting some valuable exercise. How long you rent for depends on your general fitness level. For first timers we recommend an hour long rental. That gives you plenty of time to see the lake and get some exercise in. You should expect a moderate but relaxing time on the water. You can make kayaking as strenuous or relaxing as you want.

Kayaking is fairly easy. While we don't provide formal lessons, our dock hands are all experienced kayakers and provide tips and guidance at no additional charge. If you have any questions just ask a member of our staff. Our goal is to get you out exploring Oneida Lake as safely and easily as possible.

Yes the kayaks do have weight limits. For single person kayaks the weight limit is 300 pounds. For a two person kayak the combined weight limit is 500 pounds. For safety reasons, we cannot break these rules. If you are too heavy and still want to explore Oneida Lake, check out our boat rentals as those have much higher weight capacities.
